Post-meeting Events: Missouri Botanical Gardens!

This year, four pre-conference workshops are being offered prior to the start of the meeting on Thursday, March 6th, and one post-conference event is being offered after the meeting on Sunday March 9th! Registration is required for the Maize Development Genetics, the Bayer Tour, the Danforth Center, and the Missouri Botanical Gardens event.

The Maize Crop Germplasm Committees (CGC) serve as subject matter experts to guide US National Plant Germplasm System (NPGS) curatorial staff on best practices, including the priorities and techniques for characterizing the collections. They also help review proposals that fund plant explorations and evaluation grants for scientific rigor. Contact Bill Tracy for more information.

Join us for a workshop dedicated to discussing the latest research in Maize Development and Cell Biology. Graduate students, postdocs and junior faculty will present their results in a short talk format, with a small, friendly audience. Plenty of time will be available after each talk for animated discussion. If you would like to present your work, or if you have any questions, please contact one of the hosts Paula McSteen, David Jackson, or Josh Strable. Attendance is limited and registration is required. The deadline to register is February 7th.

MaizeGDB will host a Computational Resources Workshop on Thursday, March 6th from 2–5 p.m., featuring the latest updates from MaizeGDB and Gramene, and a series of short talks on new tools, datasets, and resources for maize genetics and genomics research. 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM Missouri Botanical Garden - Kernels of Culture: Maize Around the World
View maize art, artifacts, and more in a special exhibit at the Stephen and Peter Sachs Museum inside the Missouri Botanical Garden. Nezka Pfeifer, the museum curator, will be available for Maize Meeting attendees to learn more about the exhibit from 1:00 to 3:00 pm (museum hours are 11:30 am - 4:30 pm daily). Free admission to the first 50 registrants; additional visitors welcome by purchasing tickets to the Garden through the MoBot webpage or upon arrival. Transportation on your own, located ~10 minutes from Union Station Hotel via Lyft or Uber.
