The EIA award will provide support to attend the Maize Genetics Meeting. We will accept EIA applications from November 8th to December 2nd.

This program seeks to recruit and retain scientists from diverse institutions including community colleges, primarily undergraduate and masters granting institutions into the maize research community by encouraging their attendance at the annual Maize Genetics Meeting. The program provides an opportunity for awardees to learn about maize genetics through connecting with scientists in the maize genetics community, explore potential collaborations, and develop career contacts.

Eligible applicants include: undergraduate students; graduate students and faculty from non-R1 institutions. Applicants must be either citizens or permanent residents of the USA; or employed at a U.S. institution. First-time conference attendees are encouraged to apply.

2) Disciplinary Breadth (DB)

The DB award will provide support for researchers in plant-related disciplines to attend the Maize Genetics Meeting. We will accept DB applications from November 8th to December 2nd.

The program provides an opportunity for researchers from diverse disciplines that have potential to enrich the maize community to learn about maize genetics by connecting with scientists in the maize genetics community, explore potential collaborations, and develop career contacts.

Eligible applicants include: researchers (including graduate students, post-docs, and early-career faculty) from a plant-related discipline and undergraduates, graduate students, and post-docs from historically underrepresented groups regardless of discipline. Applicants must be either citizens or permanent residents of the USA; or employed at a U.S. institution. First-time conference attendees are encouraged to apply.

3) Student Hotel Support:

Application deadline is January 10th!

The MGC strives to make meeting attendance accessible to students.

Each year the MGM steering committee works to raise money to support students at the conference. If fundraising efforts are successful as in previous years, then one-half of a double occupancy hotel room for each qualified student will be paid for upon check out. To qualify, students need to apply for hotel support using the link below, reserve a double occupancy room in the hotel block, register for the meeting, and pay their student registration fee by January 10th. The hotel room will not be paid for if the student stays at a different hotel. Students who live in the St. Louis area and prefer to stay at their own homes are not required to reserve a hotel room.

In addition to student hotel support, students eligible for the other financial aid awards listed on this page are strongly encouraged to apply for them to have additional costs covered.

Note: International students attending the meeting in-person are eligible to apply for this award.
